At the Technical University of Munich, the Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management (iwb) and the Institute for Electrical Energy Storage Technology (EES) are collaborating in order to research new concepts for manufacturing of battery cells and establish innovative diagnostic procedures on an industrial level.
iwb’s own research production line covers the entire battery production process chain. Research focuses on the upscaling of laboratory standards to industrial production and the development of new process technologies in battery production. Large-format pouch or hard case cells can be produced. Furthermore, quality management as well as simulation of production processes are adressed.
EES deals with the testing and characterization, modeling and simulation as well as the design and operation of systems in the field of battery technology. The research focus of the EES is on battery models with varying degrees of detail, the development of characterization and validation methods as well as general questions of battery system technology.
